Apple TV+ to House Animated Fan-Favorite Franchise Until 2030

When it comes to animation, Apple TV+ hasn’t quite kept pace with streaming giants like Crunchyroll, Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, and Disney+. Although Apple’s streaming service boasts several well-received live-action shows, original anime and animated content are relatively scarce. Fortunately, a popular animated franchise is committed to staying with Apple TV+ for the foreseeable future. Although it’s not an anime, this franchise has been a significant part of North American culture, and Apple will be the only place to stream it for years to come.

Peanuts, the beloved comic strip featuring characters like Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and Woodstock, will continue to be available on Apple TV+ through 2030. Apple began its partnership with Peanuts in 2018, initially creating new animated content centered around the Charlie Brown gang. In 2020, Apple expanded its involvement by acquiring the complete animated library of the franchise. Since then, Apple and Peanuts have collaborated to offer fans fresh perspectives on everything Peanuts. Interestingly, this partnership is likely to extend further, as Apple is currently developing an original Peanuts animated film, which was first revealed in 2023, although its release date is still unknown.

Peanuts And Apple: A Match Made In Heaven

In a recent interview with Variety, Tara Sorensen, head of children’s programming at Apple TV+, shared her thoughts on the promising future of Peanuts. She said, “As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Peanuts, we’re incredibly happy to keep working with our fantastic partners at WildBrain, Peanuts Worldwide, and Lee Mendelson. We are deeply committed to and passionate about ‘Peanuts.’ These characters and stories are timeless and connect with people of all ages worldwide. We’re thrilled that everyone will be able to enjoy the classic holiday specials, keeping this beloved and comforting tradition alive.”

Good news! Even if you don’t have an Apple TV+ subscription, you can still enjoy several Charlie Brown animated specials for free during the holidays. You’ll be able to watch “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” from October 18th through the 19th, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving” from November 15th to 16th, and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” from December 13th to 14th.

As we discussed before, Peanuts has been a significant part of American culture for many years, originally starting as a comic strip in 1950, created by Charles M. Schulz. Even after Schulz’s death, the franchise has continued to grow with new projects that expand Charlie Brown’s universe. Given the series’ enduring popularity, it’s logical that Apple TV+ would renew their streaming agreement with it. However, despite Peanuts remaining on the platform, there’s been a noticeable decline in animated content in 2025 compared to previous years. Apple TV+ produced almost twice as many animated series in 2022 and 2023 as it did in 2024 and 2025.
