Trust is key for any good police partnership, but it’s clearly missing between the characters played by Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo in the popular Apple TV crime series. And things aren’t improving – their strained relationship continues in the next-to-last episode of the season.
Criminal Record Season 2 Is Nearing Its Finale
This crime thriller features Peter Capaldi as DCI Daniel Hegarty and Cush Jumbo as DS/DI June Lenker, who play detectives with very different ways of working.
In Season 2, Episode 7, titled “Going Down,” June will be leading the team as they uncover what Cosmo is planning next.
Hegarty has been keeping June uninformed, which has created tension between them. Now, June has reached her limit. In a heated conversation shown in the clip, she tells Hegarty she’s tired of the dishonesty and can no longer tolerate his behavior.
Hegarty feels his years of experience give him an edge, but June trusts her gut and confidently confronts him about his repeated dishonesty. This prompts Hegarty to explain that they both need to be resourceful and clever to succeed, especially when lacking essential support.
Season 2 of Criminal Record sees June Lenker and Daniel Hegarty reluctantly team up after a stabbing at a political rally. Their investigation, initially focused on finding a killer, quickly reveals a web of secret operations, causing friction between them. With only one episode left, they must overcome their disagreements to expose a larger conspiracy.
Criminal Record Has Been a Streaming Hit Despite Mixed Reviews
The show consistently attracts viewers and maintains a high 90% approval rating across both of its seasons. However, audience ratings tell a different story. Season 1 received a modest 64% rating, and the current season is even lower at 52%.
Despite receiving varied feedback, Criminal Record has become popular on streaming platforms. As the first season approaches its conclusion, Criminal Record continues to perform well.
A new episode of Criminal Record will be available on June 3rd, with the season ending on June 10th. Apple TV has not yet announced whether the show will be renewed for a third season.
