The show is described as a unique and unusual story about the unhappiest person on Earth being tasked with saving the world from… well, happiness. The trailer definitely suggests that’s the premise! Show creator Gilligan has shared some details about the plot in interviews, clarifying things that aren’t explained in the promotional materials.
Entertainment Weekly spoke with the show’s creator, Gilligan, before the premiere, and learned the strange events in the trailer are caused by a virus that forces everyone to be overly optimistic. The trailer suggests Rhea Seehorn’s character, Carol, is unaffected by this virus, and the series will explore why and what that means for the world. It appears Apple TV has created another unique and unusual sci-fi show, unlike anything else currently available on streaming platforms.
As a fan of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, I’m already hooked by the news that the same creative team is behind Pluribus. And if that wasn’t enough, it’s partially filmed in Albuquerque!
