Apple TV’s Severance Returns to the Charts Amid Season 3 Filming Update

The popular thriller on Apple TV is currently at the top of streaming charts worldwide. This surge in viewership happened right after one of the show’s actors shared news about the upcoming season three.

According to FlixPatrol, the TV show Severance is currently 9th on Apple TV’s global list of most popular shows. It recently returned to the top 10 in the United States, landing at number 10 as of October 25, 2025. The show has an average rating of 7.8 and is a top 5 hit in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mongolia, Peru, El Salvador, and Taiwan. Globally, Severance has moved ahead of the show starring Rebecca Ferguson, but remains behind the sci-fi series Foundation which is at number 8.

Let me tell you about Severance. It’s a truly fascinating show featuring incredible performances from Adam Scott, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette. The premise is brilliantly unsettling: Lumon Industries offers a procedure that literally splits your consciousness. Imagine going to work with absolutely no memory of your life outside the office, and then returning home with no recollection of your workday. That’s the reality for these employees, who essentially become two different people – an ‘innie’ trapped within the walls of Lumon, and an ‘outie’ living a normal life, blissfully unaware of what their work self experiences.

Apple TV+’s sci-fi series, Severance, has received widespread praise and numerous awards, including 31 Primetime Emmy nominations and several wins. The show recently finished its second season and has already been renewed for a third, with new details just shared by actor Patricia Arquette.

According to information shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Apple TV Updates, actor Patricia Arquette has indicated that filming for Season 3 of Severance is currently projected to start in Spring 2026. If this timeline holds, the new season might be released around mid-2027—about two and a half years after Season 2. This delay is similar to the wait between the first and second seasons (from 2022 to 2025). However, Apple TV has not yet officially announced when production will begin, and a release date remains unconfirmed.

Severance Season 3 Recently Received Another Disappointing Update

Although Patricia Arquette hinted that filming for Season 3 of Severance wouldn’t begin until Spring 2026, fans received worse news earlier this year. In August, it was revealed that Ben Stiller would not be returning as the main director for the new season. He’s currently busy with other commitments, including directing Focker-in-Law, the newest installment in the Meet the Fockers series.

Adam Stiller will continue to be involved in Severance as an executive producer, helping to guide the writing for future seasons. They haven’t announced who will be the main director yet, but it’s possible someone who previously directed episodes of the show will take on the role. For Season 2, Stiller directed five episodes, while Sam Donovan, Uta Briesewitz, and Jessica Lee Gagne each directed three episodes.

Severance is now streaming on Apple TV.
