Brandon Sanderson is making good progress on the screenplay for the Mistborn movie. In his latest YouTube update, he revealed he’s about halfway finished. While there’s still work to be done, and the script will need studio review and editing, it’s a significant milestone. Sanderson also mentioned he’s been discussing the project with Apple.
I’m halfway through the screenplay for Misborn. I’ve had productive conversations with Apple, the studio producing it, about their expectations, and I’m confident it’s progressing well. They haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but I’m feeling optimistic.

Considering Brandon Sanderson is known for writing quickly and producing a lot of work, it’s not surprising he’s already halfway through the script. He recently told Dan Wells on the Intentionally Blank podcast that he’s aiming for a process similar to James Gunn’s – a strong script that doesn’t require extensive reshoots. This suggests the screenplay will still need significant refinement, even though Sanderson is writing the first draft at a rapid pace.
