Just before the new season premiered, Apple TV+’s long-running sci-fi series, For All Mankind, unexpectedly climbed into the top 10 most-watched shows, thanks to viewers revisiting previous seasons. While Apple TV+ doesn’t have the extensive library of blockbuster movies and classic TV shows that platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and HBO Max offer, it stands out with a selection of well-made, critically praised original series. These include uplifting comedies like Ted Lasso, suspenseful dramas like Severance, the sci-fi hit Silo, and the spy thriller Slow Horses. But For All Mankind remains Apple TV+’s biggest success, and its fifth season is about to launch.
As a huge sci-fi fan, I was really excited to see that For All Mankind is now in the top 10 most-watched shows! According to FlixPatrol, it’s currently at number nine. It makes total sense though, with the fifth season just dropping – everyone’s clearly revisiting or discovering the show to get ready for the new episodes. It’s awesome to see a great series like this get the recognition it deserves.
For All Mankind Finally Preparing to Come to An End

The announcement follows Apple TV+’s recent renewal of For All Mankind for a sixth and final season, bringing the show’s story to a close. For All Mankind presents a fascinating alternate history, imagining a world where the Soviet Union won the space race. What sets it apart from similar shows is its approach to time – each season jumps forward several years, showing how the characters and their families evolve, and a new generation of astronauts takes over.
Season five of For All Mankind arrives on Apple TV+ March 27th, and it’s set a few years after the events of season four’s asteroid heist. This season explores a world where Mars has been colonized, and a new problem arises: a lice outbreak on the red planet. The story will also follow Sean Kaufman, the son of Kelly and Alexei, as tensions grow between the Martian colonists and Earth, where people are demanding stricter control over the new settlement.
It’s not surprising that all previous seasons of For All Mankind are currently popular on Apple TV. The show is critically acclaimed, boasting a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 82% audience rating. Excluding the first season (which still scored 75% with critics and 87% with audiences), the other seasons perform even better – seasons two and four both received perfect 100% scores from critics. Most seasons also have audience ratings between 80 and 90%. Now is a great time to binge-watch before the fifth season arrives, as Apple TV has announced that the sixth season, set to premiere in 2027, will be the show’s last.
