Apple TV+ is quickly becoming known for its high-quality original series, and 2026 is already shaping up to be a great year. February will see the finale of the second season of the popular Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, following the return of the critically acclaimed Shrinking, which concludes its third season on April 8th. The second season of Hijack will also wrap up soon, on March 4th. However, it’s another show’s second season that’s currently drawing in the most viewers on the platform.
The show is The Last Thing He Told Me, based on the novel by Laura Dave. It stars Jennifer Garner, known from Deadpool & Wolverine, and Angourie Rice, from Spider-Man: No Way Home, as Hannah Hall and her stepdaughter, Bailey Michaels. The first season ended with a suspenseful cliffhanger regarding a missing person, and audiences are eager to find out what happens next.
What Other Apple TV Shows Were Beaten by The Last Thing He Told Me?

The second season kicked off with the episode “Cape Cod” on Friday the 20th, immediately establishing a strong benchmark for the subsequent episode, “Safe.” The Last Thing He Told Me quickly became more popular than other shows like Hijack, Shrinking, the first season of Monarch, and original series including Tehran, Ted Lasso, Severance, The Morning Show, Slow Horses, and Pluribus.
It’s ironic that The Last Thing He Told Me has received the poorest reviews of any show in the Top 10. The first season earned a 39% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and the second season only improved slightly to 43%. While critics consistently commend Jennifer Garner’s acting, many believe the show repeats the weaker storylines from season one instead of building on its strengths.
Okay, so the big question is: can the second episode of Monarch Season 2 live up to the excitement of its premiere? It’s tough to say right now. But with so many viewers just discovering Season 1 and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire absolutely crushing it in theaters, I think Trace Garner and the whole team are facing some serious competition for eyeballs. We’ll have to wait and see if they can hold their own.
New episodes of The Last Thing He Told Me will be released weekly until April 10th, following the premiere of Your Friends & Neighbors. Jennifer Garner also has several upcoming film projects and will star in The Five-Star Weekend, a TV series adapted from Elin Hilderbrand’s novel, which will stream on Peacock.
