Being a Godzilla fan is fantastic right now! The King of the Monsters is popular in new comic books and will appear in two new movies over the next year. Following the Oscar win for Godzilla Minus One – a first in the monster’s seventy-year film history – Godzilla is currently featured in the second season of Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. And there’s more to come: Godzilla Minus Zero will be released later this year, followed by Godzilla x Kong: Supernova in March 2027.
CinemaCon, a major event for movie theater owners, is coming to Las Vegas in mid-April. Studios use the convention to preview upcoming films and share exciting news. This year, GKIDS will be there, and they’re planning a big presentation on April 14th. Oscar-winning director Takashi Yamazaki will be present to unveil the first footage from the highly anticipated movie, Godzilla Minus Zero.
Godzilla Minus Zero First Look Arrives in One Month

Historically, footage shown at CinemaCon hasn’t always been shared with the public. While some clips have been released, much of it, like at events such as San Diego Comic-Con, has been exclusive to those attending. However, reporters will be there to cover the event, so details will inevitably surface online. Even if we don’t see the full trailer for Godzilla Minus One right away, we might get our first glimpse of the new Godzilla design.
Godzilla’s appearance often changes significantly from one movie to the next, and while new designs are partly for merchandise, Godzilla Minus Zero will have a narrative reason for any changes. The original Minus One film showed Godzilla with two distinct forms, and the ending—where only a piece of Godzilla sank into the ocean while healing—suggests the filmmakers will redesign the creature again for Minus Zero. It’s currently unknown what this new form will be.
Following the huge success of Godzilla Minus One, director Takashi Yamazaki is back to helm the new film, Godzilla Minus Zero, handling directing, writing, and visual effects. The movie will first come out in Japan on November 3rd, and then in the US on November 6th – a quicker turnaround than with Minus One. With footage set to premiere at CinemaCon seven months before the release date, there’s ample time for a strong marketing campaign.
