As a seasoned analyst with over two decades of experience in the tech industry, I have seen numerous promising projects come and go. However, Aptos seems to be standing out from the crowd, particularly due to its ambitious vision and strong focus on scalability and usability. The team’s relentless pursuit of innovation, coupled with their strategic location in one of the world’s largest Web3 developer pools (India), gives them a significant edge.
Rapid innovation is expected to occur more swiftly than many anticipate, and Aptos, spearheaded by co-founder and CTO Avery Ching, is eager to jumpstart the process as expressed during his conversation with Arijit Sarkar at India Blockchain Week 2024.
Aptos aims to tackle the scalability and transaction processing issues faced by other first-layer blockchains using a scalable and distributed infrastructure that’s robust enough to handle billions of transactions.
1) “Our goal is to provide assistance for all internet applications currently available, as well as those that will emerge in the future within the Web3 landscape.” (Ching explained.)
It takes a lot of tech
According to Ching, the technology that Aptos offers is frequently regarded as its key advantage or competitive edge. He mentioned not only its impressive speed (high throughput), but also underlying infrastructure elements such as parallel transaction processing and on-chain randomness, which are capable of powering applications like prediction markets and voting systems.
Integrating payment systems within an ecosystem can facilitate the use of incentives like loyalty programs and discount coupons. For instance, Aptos has incorporated Tether (USDT) and Circle (USDC), with plans to add a Hong Kong dollar stablecoin to its platform as well.
As an analyst, I’m exploring solutions that involve tracking and organizing the data lineage of artificial intelligence for seamless interaction between AI agents and blockchain systems. In other words, I’m investigating methods to ensure that AI data has a clear history, making it easier for AI agents to work effectively with blockchain technology.
In addition to highlighting its functionality, Ching underscored that Aptos offers exceptional usability. He explained this is facilitated by the blockchain’s robust developer support and streamlined authentication and account recovery options for users.
Ahead of the curve in India
Nonetheless, Ching said Aptos’ real edge is its team. India, with the world’s second-largest Web3 developer pool, plays a large role in Aptos’ activities, placing it “ahead of the curve.” Aptos has over 40 ecosystem teams and 500 developers in India. According to Ching:
“This is one of the most developer-oriented areas of the world […] The developers are very hungry and very excited about building applications that have utility and experimenting. I think the experimenting space in Web3 is the most important thing to be doing.”
Additionally, it’s estimated that approximately 77% of the 8.5 million monthly active addresses on Aptos originate from India.
Aptos plans to fuel its rapid advancement through multiple upcoming projects. They’ll unveil an advanced programming language named Move 2, and introduce a novel consensus protocol called Raptor. Furthermore, they’ll debut an improved parallelism engine, as well as a new financial platform, Aptos Asset Management.
