ARC Raiders Developer is Currently Investigating Matchmaking Errors

Embark Studios, the team behind the popular game ARC Raiders, is continuing to listen to player feedback and address issues. According to GamesRadar, the studio’s community lead, Ossen Julia, recently announced on the game’s Discord server that they are aware of problems with the matchmaking system and are actively working to fix it.

Julia announced that they know some players are experiencing issues with matchmaking. The team is looking into the problem and will provide updates when available.

The recent news has sparked discussion among ARC Raiders fans online, with many sharing their thoughts. Although Embark Studios hasn’t officially addressed the issue, players are reporting significantly longer wait times when trying to find matches.

Players have recently reported much longer wait times for matchmaking. One player noted that matches which used to start almost immediately are now taking two to three minutes to find, a significant slowdown compared to the recent past. They shared this observation on X, stating that while occasional waits aren’t usually a problem, the current times are noticeably slower.

One player reported consistently long and unpredictable wait times for matches. They said they’ve waited up to 10 minutes, and sometimes are the only one in the match, happening multiple times. The wait times vary, ranging from 10 to 40 seconds between matches.

Embark Studios is quick to respond to player feedback. Recently, players reported a bug that let them pass through locked doors without the correct key, and many asked the developers to ban those who were exploiting it. The studio addressed the issue promptly, demonstrating their commitment to listening to the community.

The studio didn’t need to make major changes, but they’ve been working to fix the problem. They also quickly released an update that creatively punished players who were exploiting the glitch. Now, if someone tries to enter a locked room without unlocking it first, flamethrowers will appear in the walls, quickly eliminating the player.

Embark Studios has launched a new documentary series offering a look behind the scenes at how ARC Raiders was created. The first episode focuses on the early stages of development, showing the prototypes and ideas the studio explored before full production began.

I was really fascinated watching the interview with the studio CEO, Patrick Soderlund. He explained that their first year was almost entirely focused on creating the tools they needed. He also admitted they knew they wouldn’t get everything right away – they expected to make a lot of mistakes! It was smart of them to prepare for those errors and build in some wiggle room so they could learn and adjust as they went.
