It’s incredibly frustrating in extraction shooters when a match feels lost before it even begins. Landing in an area where all the good loot is already gone – leaving only scraps and the danger of encountering players who arrived first – can ruin the experience. This has been a consistent problem with Arc Raiders, and it’s held back an otherwise enjoyable game.
A major update has addressed a long-standing issue for players. The recent Flashpoint update significantly changes how players join matches, and the difference is immediately apparent. After trying it out, it’s clear this update fundamentally alters the game experience from the very beginning.
Flashpoint Update Reduces Mid-Match Spawns

Landing in a match used to be very risky, particularly if you had your own weapons and items. Arriving late meant everything good had already been taken – all the best loot was gone, and the only thing left to do was avoid players who were already well-equipped. This often led to players quickly leaving the match, which wasn’t fun in a game meant to be exciting and unpredictable. Essentially, it felt like every match started with a random chance of success before you even began playing.
The recent Flashpoint updates make it much more likely you’ll start a match from the very beginning with a full, active lobby. Before, players often joined games already well underway. Now, exploring feels worthwhile again, because every attempt at a run has the potential to lead to something new and exciting, rather than feeling predetermined.
The biggest change is how this affects the way each game feels. Instead of immediately expecting to fail, you can now start each match feeling hopeful. There’s still excitement, but it’s a positive kind – it comes from the anticipation of what might happen, not the certainty of failure. This simple shift makes the whole experience much more enjoyable.
Player Loadouts Now Offer a Clear Advantage
This update makes choosing your starting gear more meaningful. Previously, using a free loadout gave players too much of an advantage. Now, bringing your own gear not only prepares you for combat but also improves the overall match experience by increasing the chance of finding available loot and starting on equal footing. Using a free loadout still works, but it won’t offer the same benefits, which was a deliberate design choice to make earning and equipping gear feel more rewarding.
Honestly, this change feels really good. It doesn’t force you to spend money, but it definitely makes me want to upgrade my gear if I’m serious about a good run. It’s a nice balance – you can still jump in casually, but being prepared actually pays off. The best part? It gets rid of that super annoying feeling of being under-equipped. Now, Arc Raiders can finally focus on what it’s all about: the thrill of the hunt, not stressing about being ready for it.
This update also brings a positive change in how players feel while playing. When players believe their preparation matters, they become much more invested in the game. Instead of just being about having the right gear, choosing a loadout now feels like a meaningful strategy that affects how each playthrough unfolds. This feeling of control is exactly what Arc Raiders has been missing, and it’s something players have requested since the game launched.
