Embark Studios has just released an update for their game, ARC Raiders, but it’s not about new features or gameplay tweaks. This update specifically addresses a serious security problem related to how the game connects with Discord. A systems engineer named Timothy Meadows discovered that the game was unintentionally saving private Discord messages as readable text in a local file, potentially exposing users’ private conversations.
Embark Studios quickly addressed a recently discovered bug by releasing an update. They confirmed that private Discord messages were never sent outside of users’ devices. As a precaution, logging for the Discord software kit has been turned off, and the studio is thoroughly reviewing its systems to prevent similar issues in the future.
The studio confirmed that your private data remained on your computer and was never accessed or stored by them. They’re turning off Discord logging and thoroughly investigating to prevent similar problems in the future.
This update follows a recent change to ARC Raiders, where the rate of finding rare blueprints in First Wave Caches (found in Hurricane areas) was adjusted. The developers realized the original rate was too high, so they lowered it. To make up for this, players now have a better chance of finding higher-quality materials. Even with the lower blueprint drop rate, Embark Studios assures players that First Wave Caches remain a good source for obtaining them.
According to the game studio, they’re making this change because players have been finding and collecting blueprints from the First Wave Caches very quickly and in large numbers.
To make things fairer, we’re increasing the chances of getting high-quality materials from caches. You might find slightly fewer blueprints overall, but the materials you do get will be better. Caches will still be a good source of blueprints, but you won’t be able to consistently get 3 to 5 in every session.
I was really excited when the latest update for ARC Raiders, called Shrouded Sky, dropped! It added a new map condition called the Hurricane, which basically throws you into a massive storm. They even released a cool trailer showing how tough things are going to be in there. But here’s the weird part – people are reporting seeing strange things flying around in the clouds with this new condition! Embark Studios hasn’t said anything about it yet, so everyone’s buzzing with theories about what it could mean for the story. It’s got me totally hooked and wondering what’s next!
The game ARC Raiders is playable on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Its publisher, Nexon, recently announced that 14 million copies have been sold since it was released.
Tried to report this to @EmbarkStudios but there bug bounty program can’t be found. Just a dead link not listed in the @intigriti catalog.
There is a pretty big security issue with @ARCRaidersGame discord sdk integration that’s putting people at risk.— Timothy Meadows ⚛️ (@birdgineer) March 3, 2026
