Like most games where you collect loot and shoot, you’ll need lots of in-game currency to progress in Arc Raiders. Luckily, the game is designed with a strong economy, giving you plenty of chances to find resources and earn money by selling them.
This guide will show you how to earn money fast in Arc Raiders, even when you’re just starting out.
Prologue Tutorial
You’ve likely finished the tutorial, so this advice is for your next playthrough. When you first encounter a locked door during the mission, be prepared for a trap. If you open it, you’ll be ambushed and killed in a cutscene, losing all the gear you’ve collected up to that point. Because the prologue uses random loot generation, you might find some great items early on – but you’ll lose them all when you’re ambushed.
To avoid losing your items during this situation, simply drop everything – including what’s in your Safe Pocket – right before opening the door. After the cutscene ends, all your items will be there waiting for you, giving you a good start when you reach Speranza and can get rid of the loot.
Eliminate all the ARC enemies and collect every item in the starting area – even small things can make a big difference when you’re just starting out.
Scrappy The Rooster
There’s a charming feature in the Workshop: a trainable chicken that automatically gathers helpful items for you to collect periodically. To train and level up this chicken, named Scrappy, you’ll need a Dog Collar, a rare item you might have found during the prologue. If you didn’t get it then, you can search for it in Residential areas, checking drawers and shelves carefully.
Loadouts
Okay, so this game makes you really think about what you carry, both in terms of inventory space and how much weight you can handle. When I’m going on loot runs, I want to be as efficient as possible. I could use my best gear, but if I die, I’d lose both the loot and all the progress I made building my character – which is risky early on. That’s where the ‘Free Loadout’ function comes in handy. It basically gives me a random set of basic gear to use, and it also includes a special ‘Free Loadout Augment’ that gives me a little extra backpack space – about 35kg worth. It’s not amazing, but it helps. The loadout has 14 inventory slots and 4 quick slots, but the biggest downside is it doesn’t have a ‘Safe Pocket’ to protect certain items. The good news is, once I survive a run with this augment, I can trade it in for something better!
Head to the Clinic and talk to Lance as soon as you can. Use the Free Loadout Augment you just unlocked to upgrade to a Looting Mk. 1. This will give you a lot more space to carry items – nearly 50% more, plus extra backpack slots and a secure Safe Pocket.
You’ll eventually be able to build the Looting Mk. 2 Augment, which is an even more effective tool for gathering resources. It can carry a lot – up to 60kg of loot – and has plenty of space with 22 backpack slots, 4 quick-access slots, and 3 dedicated slots for valuable Trinkets. Plus, it includes two Safe Pockets to help protect your items from being lost, and a helpful bonus ability.
These three upgrades are designed for finding resources, not fighting, so they aren’t very strong defensively. They don’t work well with energy shields, which means you’ll be vulnerable in long battles. Be sure to bring shield rechargers and adrenaline to help you escape if you get stuck in a firefight.
The Looting Mk. 3 upgrade isn’t available yet, but when it is, it will help balance how much you can carry with how well you can survive.
To get the basic (Mk. 1) version of each Augment type – Combat, Looting, and Tactical – without spending any Coins, it’s worth running the Free Loadout Augment mission a couple more times.
Celeste And Bartering Assorted Seeds
Trading with Celeste is a great way to get basic materials. You can exchange one Assorted Seed for each of the five common materials, which saves you from having to break down items you might otherwise need. This also gives your seeds a value, as you can sell the materials you get in return for coins. Metal Parts are the most profitable, selling for 75 coins each.
Check out everything Celeste has to offer and see if any items are worth trading for Assorted Seeds. Remember, each Seed is roughly equivalent to 75 Coins – the same price you’d get for selling one Metal Part.
Trinkets
The best way to earn a lot of Coins is by trading Trinkets. Even if you have a large backpack, you’ll likely need to choose which items to bring back carefully. When deciding what to collect, focus on items that are both valuable and can be stacked in large quantities. For example, a common Trinket worth 1000 Coins that you can find many of, taking up only one backpack slot, is often more useful than a rare Trinket worth 4000 Coins that you only find once.
Some Trinkets can be used up, and you might need to do so if you’re in a difficult situation. Although it’s generally better to save them, using a Trinket can be a good idea if it both helps you immediately and frees up space for more useful items.
Be sure to leverage your Safe Pocket for your most valuable item, whether singular or a stack.
Loot Prioritization
If you find yourself overloaded with items while exploring Topside and heading back to Speranza, don’t just discard them. Take a moment to salvage them for basic materials. While you’ll earn less than selling or properly recycling, getting something is better than nothing. This approach helps you maximize your backpack space and stay out exploring for longer.
Best Loot Locations
When choosing where to loot, you basically have two options. You can play it safe and avoid other players by sticking to the edges of the map. Focus on buildings in these quieter areas, away from the busy central zones. The outer extraction points will also be less crowded, letting you leave with your loot without a fight. The Spaceport is perfect for this strategy, and it also gives you extra time to search the Topside area.
You can generally predict where most players will be by looking at the colors on the map showing where loot is plentiful – that’s where you’ll find the biggest groups fighting and searching.
The other approach is much riskier. It involves choosing maps like Buried City or The Blue Gate that have active events, such as Night Raids or Launch Tower Loot, to maximize your rewards. These runs are very challenging, and you need to be ready to lose everything to ARC security or other players.
The Husk Graveyard event on Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, or Spaceport offers a good opportunity for loot. A glitch is causing many enemy robots to shut down, leaving husks all over the map. This makes it easy to collect resources, but be careful – other players are likely trying to do the same, and could attack you.
Saving Coins
Try to avoid unnecessary spending. Instead of buying Shield Rechargers, you can easily collect ARC Powercells by defeating ARC drones. These Powercells can either recharge your shield on the go or be used at your Workshop to craft Rechargers, saving you resources.
Okay, so I figured out a cool trick! If you manage to finish a run with one of those free Loadout Augments you can get, you can trade it to Lance at the Clinic. He’ll give you a Mk. 1 version of a specialist Augment – either for Combat, Looting, or Tactical skills. It’s awesome because it saves you 1920 Coins, which is what you’d normally have to pay for one!
Instead of recycling valuable items for resources, it’s easier to collect assorted seeds and trade them with Celeste.
That is everything there is to know about farming Coins quicking in Arc Raiders.
