Hey everyone, ARC Raiders just dropped Patch 1.4.0, and it’s a good one! They’ve squashed a bunch of bugs, but honestly, the fix for a really popular exploit had me laughing. Apparently, players were finding a way to clip through locked doors to get to the best loot rooms without even needing a keycard. It was a clever glitch, but thankfully, the developers have put a stop to it. It’s always cool to see creative solutions like that get addressed in a fun way!
Embark Studios took a playful approach to fixing a glitch that let players enter unintended areas. Rather than just correcting the bug, they added a consequence for those who exploit it: anyone who glitches into these rooms will be immediately burned by flamethrowers. The flamethrowers vanish only when players open the doors using the proper keycard, guiding them back to the intended gameplay experience.
Key changes and bug fixes included in Patch 1.4.0
In addition to resolving issues with locked rooms on all maps, Embark Studios has also addressed these problems:
- Along with the fixes to exploit locked rooms across every map, Embark Studios have also fixed the following:
- An exploit which allowed players to shoot faster which was achieved by swapping to a quick use item and back
- Spaceport’s Control Tower has also been altered, now blocking exterior access.
- An issue which caused low resolution textures in the Main Menu has been fixed
- Players can now longer push each other by jumping on each other’s backs.
- Lighting artifacts have also been addressed when entering maps.
- A bug which caused Raider voices to say the wrong dialogue has also been fixed.
It’s great how fast Embark is at releasing updates and fixing problems. Their handling of this exploit is also refreshing and humorous – a nice change from simply banning players who accidentally take advantage of bugs in the game.
