Okay, I know everyone’s been hearing a lot about how well ARC Raiders is doing, with all the talk about sales and player numbers, but honestly, it’s amazing! Apparently, a new report says that the game really boosted Steam’s December sales – like, to a record-breaking $1.6 billion! It’s cool to see a new shooter having such a big impact.
Steam revenue reached $1.7 billion in December 2023, a 22.7% increase compared to the previous year. This also broke the previous record of $1.4 billion set in December 2020 during the pandemic. Throughout the month, over 100 million people played games on Steam.
While ARC Raiders wasn’t a hit with absolutely everyone, it was the best-selling game on the store between December 21st, 2025, and January 4th, 2026. It sold 1.2 million copies during those weeks, bringing the total number of copies sold on Steam to 7 million.
The new extraction shooter is off to a fantastic start, selling 250,000 copies just on Boxing Day – the day after Christmas! That’s a great result, particularly considering that some of its bigger rivals, like Battlefield 6, haven’t been performing as well.
Embark Studios hasn’t announced any firm plans for the future, but CEO Patrick Söderlund has mentioned several studios are exploring the possibility of turning their games into movies or TV shows. We might hear more details later this month as the development team gets back to work after the holidays, so keep an eye out for updates.
