Arc Raiders’ Shrouded Sky Update Sparks Community Backlash Over Nothing

I’m a bit frustrated with the latest Arc Raiders update, and I’m not alone. It feels like Embark has nerfed two of the best weapons in the game – the Wolfpack and the Deadline. We used to rely on these for tackling the toughest Arcs, but now they’re way more expensive to keep running because the parts needed to craft them cost a lot more. It’s a bummer because it feels like a direct hit to players who enjoyed using those weapons.

Some players are unhappy with a recent update to Arc Raiders, feeling it negatively impacts their favorite way to play. Previously, many relied on strategies using Wolfpacks and Deadlines to overcome challenging enemies. Now, those players are voicing concerns that the update unfairly penalizes builds they’ve spent time and effort developing, and many are calling it a ‘nerf’.

A closer look reveals the situation isn’t as severe as it initially seemed. The weapons in Arc Raiders haven’t lost any power. Instead, the developers at Embark Studios have increased the cost of using them frequently, encouraging players to manage their resources carefully and think strategically for the long term.

Why Fans Are Furious Over Wolfpack and Deadline

In Arc Raiders, the Wolfpack and the Deadline were consistently considered top choices for tackling the most difficult PvE missions. Players favored these strategies because they offered a strong chance of swiftly defeating enemies and successfully collecting valuable rewards, making them incredibly popular and dependable options.

Because the materials needed to make ARC weapons now cost more, using them requires more thought and effort. Players have to spend more resources on each attempt, making things riskier. Even though the weapons haven’t become weaker, some players feel like they’ve lost an advantage. When a previously easy strategy suddenly needs more work or careful planning, it’s naturally frustrating.

Psychology also plays a role. Because players often become attached to their in-game items, when the best equipment becomes very expensive, it can increase their anxiety about losing it. Even if the gear doesn’t actually improve performance, the higher price tag can make players more cautious and risk-averse.

Why These Changes Were Necessary

This update seems focused on making the game healthier in the long run, even if it’s not the most popular choice right now. When a few weapons become overwhelmingly powerful in difficult challenges – like the Wolfpack and Deadline recently – players tend to use those weapons almost exclusively. This limits the variety of strategies and makes other weapons less useful.

Instead of making Wolfpack and Deadline weapons less effective, Embark increased the cost of the materials needed to use them. This is a more subtle change, as the weapons are still very powerful and capable of handling any situation. Now, players just need to be more strategic about when and how they use them. This encourages experimentation with different weapon combinations and a more careful approach to managing resources.

Making players carefully choose gear for difficult missions could actually improve the game. Successfully completing a tough challenge without relying on the best, most expensive equipment feels more rewarding, and that’s what the game developers are aiming for. When players decide to tackle the hardest missions, like Wolfpack or Deadline, their choices will have a bigger impact. Although many players are upset right now, this update might bring back the excitement and challenge that were missing from the game’s most difficult content.
