Recently, the game ARC Raiders has been experiencing problems with hackers and cheaters who are using unfair advantages. The game’s developer, Embark Studios, has responded to player complaints by announcing updates to its cheat detection system. According to a post on their Discord server (reported by GamesRadar), these changes will be substantial and allow them to more reliably find and remove cheaters from the game.
Good news for players of ARC Raiders who stream on platforms like Twitch! The developers are adding features to help prevent ‘stream sniping’ – where opponents watch your stream to see your moves and gain an unfair advantage. This means it will be harder for opposing players to use your livestream to figure out what you’re doing in the game.
The team behind ARC Raiders has responded to concerns about cheaters in the game. They said on Discord that they’re taking the issue seriously and are actively working on solutions based on player feedback.
We’re making major improvements over the next few weeks to combat cheating. This includes upgraded anti-cheat software for better detection and banning, fixes to prevent players from going outside the designated play area, and new tools for streamers to help prevent stream sniping.
Popular streamer Shroud, known for playing multiplayer shooters, recently voiced strong criticism of the game ARC Raiders due to cheaters and hackers. He stated in a live stream that the developers, Embark, seem to have no control over the situation, and if significant improvements aren’t made within the next couple of weeks, there’s no reason to continue playing, calling it a waste of time.
Despite current challenges, Embark Studios is committed to supporting ARC Raiders for the long term. Art director Robert Sammelin revealed in December that they have a 10-year vision for the game, focused on consistently adding new content and keeping the experience fresh for players as it evolves.
According to Sammelin and the development team, games like this will change and improve based on how players interact with them, what feedback they provide, and what aspects of the game players enjoy the most. They also plan to continually introduce new challenges and possibilities to keep the experience fresh.
We have many possible approaches we could take with this, and it’s too early to know which one will work best. However, we already have a well-established long-term vision for where we want to go with it.
Since launching in October 2025, ARC Raiders has become a major hit. Recent reports show it was the best-selling game on Steam for the last week of the year, and it also kept more players engaged on PC compared to Battlefield 6.
ARC Raiders is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Check out our review for more details.
Popular streamer Shroud has strongly criticized Embark Studios for the ongoing cheating problem in their game, Arc Raiders. He expressed frustration, stating that if the issue isn’t addressed within the next week or two, there’s no point in continuing to play. Shroud claims that a significant portion of players – around 50% – are currently cheating in matches.
