“Unexpected Initiative” is a quest you get from Tian Wen in ARC Raiders.
Tian Wen is concerned about Celeste managing the Speranza greenhouses alone. While she believes becoming self-sufficient is a great goal, she proposes helping Celeste start her own small farm and sharing in the profits.
If that sounds like a deal, read on. We’ll give you all the details to complete this quest.
Unexpected Initiative Quest Guide | ARC Raiders
Fertilizer and Water Pump
To begin this quest, you’ll need to locate a Fertilizer and a Water Pump. Luckily, both of these items are located in the Buried City, so you can collect them during a single visit.
To find the Fertilizer, head to Grandioso Apartments. This residential area is located on the west side of the Buried City, as you can see in the image above.
When you get to the apartment building, simply go up to the roof. You’ll find large pots there that you can use to get the Fertilizer.
To find the Water Pump, head to a building near Piazza Roma in the Buried City. It’s the one directly southwest of where ‘Piazza Roma’ is marked on the map, as you can see in the image.
Head back up to the rooftop, just like you did previously. You’ll see a pump near a plant that you can interact with. Using it will give you a Water Pump, so don’t forget to grab it before you leave!
You now need to collect both items and bring them back to Tian Wen in Speranza. It might be a good idea to keep one of them in your Safe Pocket as a backup, so you only have to retrieve the other if you happen to die.
Either way, bring both of them to Tien Wen to finish this part of the quest.
Lemons
Finally, you’ll need to collect 3 Lemons. As explained in its guide, the Olive Grove area on the Blue Gate map is the best place to find them.
When you get to the area, keep an eye out for smaller fruit trees. By that time, you’ll often find fruit—like apricots or lemons—on the ground.
Although the Apricots aren’t strictly required for the quest, we suggest collecting them anyway. They’re quite valuable and can be used to improve Scrappy’s services.
Besides picking up fruit from the ground, you can also kick the trees. This usually causes more fruit to fall, which can help you get the lemons you’re looking for.
This area is generally safe from enemy creatures, but it’s become popular for player-versus-player combat. It’s unpredictable, though, as it depends on who you encounter.
We suggest you don’t bring anything you’d be upset to lose, just in case. If you collect Lemons, keep them safe in your Safe Pocket.
Okay, so this one place is amazing for finding Lemons, seriously the best! But it’s not the only spot, thankfully. You can also find Lemon trees in areas marked as ‘Nature’ on the map – pretty much on any map, actually. They just aren’t quite as dependable unless the Lush Blooms event is going on. Definitely remember that if you’re hunting for them!
