Shiny Pokémon have been around since the very beginning – they first appeared in the Gold and Silver games back in 1998. But does the Pokémon Pokopia game include these rare, differently-colored Pokémon?
Pokopia, though different from the core Pokémon games focused on battles, still lets you collect creatures.
It’s not surprising, then, that some Pokémon players might want to create a community focused entirely on shiny Pokémon, much like the player-made cat-only islands that were popular in the early days of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
But what’s the status on shinies in Pokopia? Here’s everything you need to know.

Are there shinies in Pokopia? Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Pokopia explained
Unfortunately, there are no shiny Pokémon available in Pokémon Pokopia.
Unlike the core Pokémon games, which allow any Pokémon to potentially be shiny, encouraging players to hunt for them by repeatedly resetting their game, Pokopia doesn’t have shiny Pokémon at all.
This is likely due to the fact that Pokopia features only one of each Pokémon species. To maintain consistency, it seems they’ve chosen not to include any shiny Pokémon.
That being said, there’s no reason why shinies couldn’t be introduced in the future.

Nintendo has promised to regularly update the game with fresh content and new Pokémon.
Similar to how the anime occasionally featured rare, shiny Pokémon – like Ash’s Noctowl in earlier episodes – future Pokopia events might include one or two special shiny Pokémon as well.
We don’t expect to see a shiny Pokémon system like the main games in Pokopia. It just doesn’t quite match the game’s unique approach to collecting creatures.
We are, of course, happy to be proven wrong on this front, though!
