Ariana Grande Shares Never-Before-Told Story About Mac Miller

Ariana Grande is reflecting on one of her most precious memories.

Ariana Grande recently shared a previously untold story about how she developed her musical style for her first album, Yours Truly, back in 2013. She revealed that her late boyfriend, Mac Miller, was the one who inspired her to go in a specific direction with her sound.

Ariana Grande shared with students at Chapman University that the rapper known as “Best Day Ever” inspired her to create pop music with R&B elements.

Ariana shared in a TikTok video on December 7th that she was very grateful for some advice Mac Miller gave her. She explained that his guidance was actually what led to him being featured on her song, “The Way,” and that’s why she was so excited to collaborate with him on it.

She added that he wasn’t just a great fit for the song, but he also helped her discover her own unique musical style.

Mac Miller, who dated Ariana Grande from 2016 to 2018, tragically passed away from a drug overdose in 2018 at just 26 years old. Since then, Ariana has consistently found ways to remember and celebrate his life.

She first noticed the rapper, whose name is Malcolm McCormick, two years ago at the celebration of the tenth anniversary of his album, Yours Truly.

The remastered music video concludes with a fade to black, leaving only the text “Feat. Mac Miller” visible. The song itself now includes an orchestral string section layered over Mac Miller’s second rap verse.

Ariana had a hard time dealing with his sudden death, and she later shared how deeply she grieved in the year that followed.

It took over my life,” Ariana Grande told Vogue in 2019. “Our relationship wasn’t perfect, but he was an amazing person who didn’t deserve to struggle. I held things together for a long time, but eventually I started to lose my grip, and we drifted apart.
