Some of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s popular movie series, like Predator, are still getting new installments regularly. However, many others haven’t had a new film since Schwarzenegger was a big action star in the 1980s.
Rumors suggest Arnold Schwarzenegger might soon return to his famous role as Conan the Barbarian. Reports indicate he’s in talks to star in a new film, which would be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, known for his work on the Mission: Impossible series.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to the role he first played in 1982, with a new movie written and directed by McQuarrie. This will be the first time he’s reprised the character in over forty years, following the original film and its 1984 sequel.
For years, fans have hoped for another film, but it now seems like progress is finally being made. Arnold Schwarzenegger recently revealed at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, that director McQuarrie is on board.
The former Governor of California described a compelling story about Conan, who after ruling for forty years, becomes too comfortable and is gradually forced to leave his kingdom.
The story usually involves conflict, a return from hardship, and then a lot of chaos with action, magic, and fantastical creatures. Modern filmmaking also allows for impressive special effects, and studios have the resources to create truly large-scale movies, so I’m excited to see what they come up with.
Technically, this isn’t the first Conan the Barbarian movie since the originals from the 1980s. While a script for a third film was later used for the movie Kull the Conqueror (which didn’t feature Conan) in 1997, a new Conan movie starring Jason Momoa was released in 2011.
I’m really excited about this new project! As a big fan of the original, it’s fantastic to see it coming back, especially since Arnold hasn’t been in many major movies lately. I can’t wait to hear more details as they’re released!
