Stephen Amell spent over ten years playing the Green Arrow, also known as Oliver Queen, in the popular “Arrowverse” series. He’s now discussed the possibility of returning to the role in the newly rebooted DC Universe. Amell first played the character – a businessman who becomes a crime-fighting vigilante – in the show Arrow back in 2012. He used skills he learned after being stranded on the island Lian Yu for five years, initially fighting crime as “The Hood” before becoming the Green Arrow. His performance was highly praised throughout the Arrowverse, and although he last appeared in the final season of The Flash, his time as Green Arrow might not be finished.
Stephen Amell said he’s willing to return as the Green Arrow if it would please fans. Speaking at Motor City Comic Con with Screen Rant’s Joe Deckelmeier, Amell expressed his enjoyment of playing both Green Arrow and Oliver Queen. While James Gunn and Peter Safran are rebooting the DC Universe, there’s no official word yet on whether the Green Arrow will be part of the new lineup, but Amell seems open to the possibility.
It means the world to me how much people connect with the show and with Oliver Queen! I love meeting fans at conventions and even just out and about – honestly, someone brings up Arrow almost every single day. But it’s not just about the show itself, it’s about what it meant to them. They tell me stories about bonding with family or friends while watching, and that’s the best part. Knowing the show brought people closer – that’s what really gets to me.
It Would Be Great to See the Green Arrow in the New DC Universe

As a big DC fan, I’d love to see Green Arrow show up in the new DCU. They even made a funny little reference to him in the Peacemaker season one finale, but it was totally ignored in season two, which is officially part of the new universe. It’s left me wondering what’s going on with the character! James Gunn, one of the heads of DC Studios, actually addressed this on the Peacemaker podcast, saying Green Arrow isn’t currently part of their plans, which basically means we don’t know if he even exists in this new DCU yet. It’s a bit frustrating, honestly, because he’s a great character and I’m hoping they’ll find a way to include him!
Green Arrow is a popular hero in DC Comics and a core member of the Justice League, so fans are hoping to see him included in the new DC Universe. Stephen Amell, at 44, could reprise his role as a more mature and experienced Green Arrow. While many actors like Sam Claflin, Austin Butler, Charlie Hunnam, and Garrett Hedlund have been suggested by fans, bringing Green Arrow into the DCU would allow for grittier, more realistic stories and could even pave the way for a new version of the Justice League.
