I’ve been watching Season 29 of The View, and it’s been interesting as always with the co-hosts talking about everything from politics to pop culture. But I noticed Joy Behar hasn’t been on the show for a few episodes, and at first, no one said why. Thankfully, Whoopi Goldberg finally shared the reason Joy’s been missing from the recent tapings.
Joy Behar, 83, typically doesn’t work on Mondays, which is why she wasn’t on The View on November 10th. She also missed the taping on November 11th, and Whoopi Goldberg told the audience she hoped Behar would be back for the November 12th show. However, Goldberg later announced that Behar’s return was delayed due to an injury.
Now, Joy is out because she hurt her foot and, hopefully, she’ll be back here tomorrow.
Joy Behar was one of the original hosts when The View premiered on ABC in 1997, alongside Barbara Walters and Star Jones. She left the show in 2013 during its thirteenth season, but continued to make guest appearances. Behar rejoined the panel full-time in 2015 and has been a regular host ever since. Like all hosts, she’s occasionally had to miss tapings over the years.
Joy Behar has been in the news a lot lately, and recently she publicly criticized Taylor Frankie Paul, the new star of The Bachelorette, for having children with multiple partners. This year, Behar has also been open about her feelings toward former colleagues, admitting some weren’t very kind. Despite any disagreements, she emphasizes the strong bond among the show’s hosts, stating she’ll always support them if someone speaks negatively about them, treating them like family.
As a big fan of The View, I was surprised to hear rumors earlier this year that Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg might lose their jobs! Joy actually responded to all the gossip, saying it was completely untrue. She didn’t hold back, either, and bluntly asked how anyone could actually believe those kinds of stories. It was pretty direct, but I can understand why she’d be frustrated with the speculation.
Since Whoopi Goldberg directly explained Joy Behar’s recent absence, viewers can likely trust this information. It’s still uncertain whether Behar will be back on the show before November 10th, but we hope she recovers quickly from her foot injury.
You can watch The View every weekday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on ABC. You can also stream episodes on Hulu if you have a subscription.
