Sean Combs is facing ongoing legal challenges that have drawn attention from both the public and the hip hop world. Rapper 50 Cent has been especially outspoken about the situation. Earlier this year, as accusations of sexual assault and violence against Combs surfaced, 50 Cent announced he was producing a documentary about Diddy. The trailer for the documentary has now been released, and many fans are shocked.
Netflix Shares The Announcement Video For 50 Cent’s Diddy Doc, And Fans Have Thoughts
More than a year ago, 50 Cent (also known as “Fiddy”) announced he was making a documentary about accusations against Sean Combs. There haven’t been many updates since then, but now we know when it’s coming out. Both Netflix and 50 Cent have confirmed on Instagram that the four-part docuseries, officially titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning, will be released on December 2nd. You can find a short trailer in the announcement post.

Similar to the Peacock documentary about Diddy, a new show called The Reckoning will tell the story of rapper 50 Cent (Curtis Jackson), from his beginnings to his legal issues. The streaming service says the show will feature new interviews and footage previously unseen by the public. Interestingly, many fans were surprised that 50 Cent actually decided to make this documentary. Here’s what some of them are saying:
- He actually did it 😂 – ivanlrhymeswell
- Maaan, I thought Fif was just talking ish. He really gotta DOC on Puff! 😂😂😂 – itsdlai
- He did exactly what he said he was going to do 🚶🏾♀️➡️😮💨 – chinks_s__
- Yooo, all this time I thought this man was kidding about an upcoming documentary. This is obsession atp but hey, it’s entertaining. – luizhino7
- What nahhh I thought you were joking 😂 well I guess the joke is on me 😂😂 – thisguyvick
Following Sean Combs’ arrest in September 2024, 50 Cent repeatedly criticized him publicly. Throughout the summer trial, 50 Cent continued to make jokes, sharing AI-generated images on social media and offering commentary. He also accused Combs’ lawyers of unfair tactics during the trial and mocked the rapper after the case concluded with a split verdict. Despite all the public back-and-forth, many fans and even a music industry executive doubted a documentary about the situation would actually be made.
Dame Dash Didn’t Believe The Diddy Doc Would Happen
In a September interview on The Breakfast Club (available on YouTube), music executive Damon Dash questioned the truthfulness of a documentary about Sean “Diddy” Combs, claiming the rapper was exaggerating. Now, with those comments resurfacing online, fans are sharing their reactions.
- Where’s Dame Dash? – sabeiangilzene
- Remember when Dame Dash said this wasn’t happening? lmao – blancosent.ya
- Remember when Dame said 50 wasn’t making this doc because it was taking too long? Welp. – keithnelsonjr
Notably, Combs hasn’t spoken about the matter, and that’s because he’s currently incarcerated.
What’s Going On With Sean Combs’ Legal Issues?
In 2024, Diddy was arrested following federal searches of his homes related to a sex-trafficking investigation, and he was held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial began in May 2025 and ended in July with a conviction on two counts related to sex trafficking for the purpose of prostitution. He was found not guilty on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Sean Combs received a four-year prison sentence in November and is currently serving it at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. He is scheduled to be released in June 2028, but is working to appeal his conviction, with a judge recently agreeing to speed up that process. At the same time, Combs continues to face multiple lawsuits alleging sexual assault and other misconduct.
There are reports that Diddy’s lawyers are trying to get a pardon from former President Trump. 50 Cent has publicly opposed this and remains firm in his stance. It’s unclear if the new Netflix documentary, Sean Combs: The Reckoning, is connected to these efforts to prevent a pardon. However, whether or not viewers expected it, the documentary will be available to Netflix subscribers soon.
