Imagine a scenario where your school teacher was an omnipotent alien bent on global destruction, and you and your fellow students were the only ones capable of stopping him. This is the central theme of the popular anime series called “Assassination Classroom“. The manga was first published in 2012 by author Yusei Matsui, which subsequently led to an anime adaptation, films, video games, and more. Although the original anime concluded in 2016, the series is set to resume next year, continuing the tale of Koro-sensei and his students who aim to finally bury their unique teacher for good.
The movie “Assassination Classroom: Everyone’s Time” is set to premiere in Japanese theaters on March 20th, 2026. Instead of adapting old episodes or footage, this new film will present a completely fresh narrative for the franchise. The original cast will return to their roles, but it remains unclear whether this will be a direct continuation and/or a story set within the existing anime’s timeline. At the moment, there’s no information about the movie being distributed in North America. In simpler terms, Masaki Kitamura, the director of the “Assassination Classroom” movie, expressed his joy about reviving this cherished classroom for fans who have adored “Assassination Classroom” over the years. He put in great effort to maintain the essence that Director Kishi treasures, while also injecting fresh perspectives and a cinematic punch unique to the film version. It would make him happy if, after watching the movie, you feel as though you have fallen in love with “Assassination Classroom” all over again.
Makoto Uezu, who was rising as a screenwriter in 2026, expressed his sentiments about the revival of Assassination Classroom. He mentioned feeling both honored and anxious to take on the role of series composition for a Weekly Shonen Jump project, and collaborating effectively with Matsui Yusei led to the project’s success. However, he felt that there were still things he wanted to accomplish within the constraints at the time. Ten years later, he stated that now he would be able to realize those additional ideas. This upcoming film will wrap up the anime series Assassination Classroom, and it’s a new work altogether. Don’t worry, there’s no need to fret – it’s all fresh material!
In simple terms, Aya Hinoue, the character designer, expressed that the upcoming film feels like a gathering of old friends, stating, “As someone who loves anime, I never imagined that the stories I wished for in Assassination Classroom a decade ago would become an anime. For those who have just discovered Assassination Classroom and those who watched it ten years ago, consider this a chance to reunite with your favorite characters from Class E and Koro-sensei at the movie theater.
