Following a recent leak, Ubisoft has responded to rumors about a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. For over a year, reports have suggested a remake is in development, and while Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed it, several reliable sources have indicated it’s happening. This new leak has now prompted Ubisoft to essentially acknowledge the remake for the first time.
A user on X (formerly Twitter), @TheRealZephryss, recently shared photos of a new Edward Kenway figurine that’s supposedly coming out with the remake of Assassin’s Creed 4. The figure appeared on Vinted, and the listing claimed the new Black Flag remake will launch in 2026. The post went viral, and Ubisoft responded with the popular “Ah st, here we go again” meme from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. While Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed the leak is real, their response suggests the information wasn’t meant to be public yet.

When Will the Assassin’s Creed 4 Remake Release?

We’re currently just waiting for Ubisoft to officially announce and release the remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Unfortunately, it looks like the wait might be longer than expected. Ubisoft recently postponed several projects and canceled others altogether. While the Black Flag remake wasn’t canceled, its release has been pushed back from early 2026 to sometime later in Ubisoft’s next financial year. This means we likely won’t get any news about the remake for a few more months, even though many people already know it’s in development.
Ubisoft is planning to improve performance in some older Assassin’s Creed games by adding patches that will allow them to run at a smoother 60 frames per second. Specifically, they’re looking at upgrading Assassin’s Creed Unity. While a remake of AC4: Black Flag is still a ways off, Ubisoft isn’t leaving fans with nothing to enjoy in the meantime.
