Ubisoft recently updated the 2014 game Assassin’s Creed Unity for modern consoles, letting it run smoothly at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Now, players are discovering the improvements go beyond just performance. A ResetEra user named RayCharlizard noticed screenshots on the PS5 Pro showing that Ubisoft quietly added support for 4K resolution as well.
Initially, Ubisoft only said this update would improve the game’s frame rate. However, looking at the update details for the PS5 version shows that the resolution has also been increased.
I’m so excited to talk about Assassin’s Creed Unity! It first came out on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and it introduced us to Arno Dorian. The game is set during the French Revolution in 1789, and the story really focuses on the fall of the old government and the really chaotic period known as the Reign of Terror. You play as Arno, who’s a young orphan. He was basically raised by François de la Serre, and grew up with his daughter, Élise, who becomes a close friend.
As the French Revolution begins, Arno and Élise are caught in the middle, with Arno aligned with the Assassins and Élise with the Templars.
Assassin’s Creed Unity takes place in a beautifully recreated Paris. It was also the first game in the series to let up to four players join forces in online co-op, and included unique missions designed for team play.
This week, Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed Unity will soon receive an update to run at 60 frames per second. In the same announcement, they stated that updates for last year’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows are winding down, though a few more surprises are still planned before support ends.
Ubisoft’s Vantage Studios is developing a new Assassin’s Creed game, currently known as Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. According to Jean Guesdon, head of content, the game will offer a distinct, story-focused Assassin’s Creed experience with a darker tone, set during a significant historical event. The development team is comprised of experienced members from Ubisoft Montreal.
A remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is officially in development, now titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Concept art was shared, showcasing the new logo, but a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Guesdon also gave a brief update on Assassin’s Creed Invictus, the upcoming multiplayer game. He explained that the team is working on ways to include the community in the development process, as player feedback will be crucial to shaping the game.
We know many of you are interested in this project. It is a new take on multiplayer for the game, but it’s different from what you might have heard. We’re really focused on what players think, and we’re looking for ways to involve the community early in the process so we can build the best experience together.
