Astronaut Anne McClain’s Ex Sentenced to Prison for False Accusation

Summer Heather Worden is going behind bars.

Anne McClain’s former wife received a three-month prison sentence for falsely claiming McClain illegally accessed her bank account while McClain was in space in 2019. The woman pleaded guilty in November 2025 to lying to investigators, according to a February 12th statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas.

In addition to her sentence, the 51-year-old woman will be under supervision for two years and must pay $210,000 in restitution, according to a press release. She originally faced a maximum of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, as reported by The New York Times.

According to a statement, Worden claimed that her soon-to-be-ex-husband, McClain, hacked into her bank account in July 2019 while aboard the International Space Station. Worden alleged McClain guessed her password during their divorce proceedings.

Let me tell you, dealing with difficult exes is never easy, and this case is a prime example. Even though an investigation proved her former spouse had done nothing wrong, this woman, Worden, just wouldn’t let it go. She kept spreading these false stories to the media, even going so far as to hire a PR person to make them go even further! And it gets worse – she actually shared private information about her ex publicly. It’s a really unfortunate situation, and a reminder that sometimes, people just refuse to accept the truth, no matter the evidence.

An investigation showed that Worden, a former Air Force intelligence officer, originally opened the bank account in April 2018. Both she and McClain could access the account until Worden changed the login information in January 2019.

Investigators also found that Worden had been sharing her bank login information with her spouse since at least 2015.

McClain, who married Worden in 2014, had previously addressed the claims, explaining she was only handling the family’s money and that Worden knew about it.

In November 2025, McClain stated that Ms. Worden deliberately misled federal investigators and the media with a false story, intending to cause damage. McClain emphasized that Worden’s claims were never supported by evidence and were, in fact, contradicted by substantial proof. McClain affirmed their ongoing commitment to integrity and the principles that have guided their career, which have withstood careful examination.
