Astronomer’s Kristin Cabot Resigns After Coldplay, Andy Byron Scandal

Kristin Cabot has stepped down from her post.

A week following the spread of a video showing her cozying up with the ex-CEO of Astronomer, Andy Byron, at a Coldplay show, it’s been reported that the HR director has also parted ways with the DataOps company.

A representative from Astronomer informed NBC News that Kristin Cabot is no longer working for them, as she has chosen to resign.

Five days prior, Byron also resigned after he was placed on leave amid an internal investigation.

In a July 19 announcement, Astronomer stated that Andy Byron has stepped down from his position. The Board of Directors has agreed to this resignation. The search for our next CEO will now commence, with Pete DeJoy, our Cofounder and Chief Product Officer, serving as the interim CEO in the meantime.

The leadership upheaval among astronomers started following an unforeseen incident at the July 16 concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Byron and Cabot were there, and as the band showcased fans on the jumbotron, they unexpectedly found themselves on screen, causing them to swiftly distance themselves and conceal their faces behind the crowd – fueling rumors about their relationship situation.

In a recently posted social media video, Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin joked about the circumstances. He quipped, “They must be in a relationship or simply very reserved,” then added with a chuckle, “I hope we didn’t unintentionally cause any trouble.

Although their company gained viral attention, Astronomer made sure to emphasize their primary objective to the public.

Prior to last week, our company had established itself as a trailblazer in the DataOps sector, assisting data teams in driving everything from advanced analytics to production AI. As our visibility might have shifted suddenly, one thing that remains unchanged is our product and the work we do for our customers.

The company stated, “We’ll carry on excelling at our core strengths: solving the most challenging data and AI issues for our clients.

As an over-the-moon fan, I found myself at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on July 15th, where none other than Chris Martin of Coldplay was performing. In the midst of the electrifying atmosphere, my eyes locked onto two individuals who, upon spotting themselves on the jumbotron, seemed to materialize from each other’s embrace.

Martin shared with the gathering prior, “We’ll be utilizing our cameras for this,” he explained. “If you glance at the screens, we’ll be scanning and greeting those who are present.” First up, a young man who was elated by an unexpected happy birthday salute from Martin himself.

The singer pointed out, ‘Check out these two over here,’ as the camera focused on them, appearing quite comfortable. However, unexpectedly, the man suddenly hid, while the woman, with her hands shielding her face, chose to turn away from the camera.

Martin jokingly commented, ‘Either they’re secretly involved or they’re unusually reserved,’ expressing his confusion about the situation.

When the woman moved from her spot, slipping through those following her, the performer exclaimed, “Oh dear me! I just hope we haven’t done anything wrong.

The incident was recorded for future reference on video by Grace Springer, a concert attendee, and eventually, internet detectives unveiled the squirrelly duo as Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, Chief People Officer of the same company. Swiftly, TikTok users, X users, and others deduced that Byron and Cabot were both wed to different individuals.

Shortly after that, Martin inquired from the duo appearing on the screen, “Alright, could I ask, are you both together? Are you two an authentic couple?

As a diehard fan, I can’t hide my excitement over the recent buzz surrounding Byron and Cabot! These two once workmates were mysteriously spotted at a Coldplay concert, sending the internet into a frenzy. Despite the intrigue, neither has issued any official statement about this unexpected encounter. Alas, rumors of an apology supposedly from Byron that surfaced online the next day turned out to be false, as reported by Astronomer. I’m eagerly waiting for more updates on this captivating story!

In different career paths, Byron served as CEO for data operations firm Astronomer (not associated with astronomy), and Cabot held the position of HR director for the same company.

Astronomer confirmed July 24 to NBC News that Cabot had resigned.

Since then, both individuals have removed their LinkedIn profiles, and various news sources claim that Byron’s wife deactivated her Instagram and Facebook accounts. It is said that they have two shared sons.

Cabot is married to Andrew Cabot, who serves as CEO of Privateer Rum and is a sixth-generation descendant of a rum distiller bearing the same name dating back to the American Revolution, according to various sources. As reported by the Boston Globe, Andrew abandoned a career in technology to establish the spirits company in 2011. They are also parents to two children.

The firm known as Astronomer specializes in technology and offers a unified platform called Astro. According to their site, this platform enables your team to design, execute, and monitor data streams seamlessly, all within a single interface.

Established in Cincinnati, Ohio, back in 2018, the company also maintains branches in San Francisco and San Jose, California.

Byron joined the company as CEO in 2023 and Cabot came onboard in 2024.

In the vibrant month of May 2025, I proudly shared that our company, Astronomer, successfully secured $93 million in our Series D funding round, spearheaded by Bain Capital Ventures. As we announced then, this significant milestone was not the end of our journey, but merely a step towards building a resilient and enduring software enterprise, as reported by the New York Post.

The funding raised the firm’s valuation to $740 million, according to the Economic Times.

The astronomer declared on July 18th that the board of the company had started an official inquiry regarding this issue, and he also confirmed that the supposed statement attributed to Byron was not authentic.

The company stated, “Our astronomers embody the principles and traditions that have been our cornerstone since inception. We hold our leadership responsible for exemplifying these values not only through their behavior, but also by taking accountability.

It was additionally mentioned that none of the individuals visible in the tragic jumbotron video, except for the couple in focus, were workers from Astronomer. (Independently, the firm verified to the Associated Press that Cabot was the woman alongside Byron in the video.)

According to Pete DeJoy, co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Byron had taken a leave of absence from Astronomer starting July 18. The following day, the company declared that he had resigned from his position, with Pete DeJoy temporarily taking over as CEO in the meantime.

As a dedicated follower reporting for TopMob News, I’m sharing an announcement: Andy Byron has resigned, and the Board of Directors has accepted it. We are now initiating a search for our next CEO. Meanwhile, DeJoy will carry on with his expanded responsibilities.

Over the past few days, our company, Astronomer, has garnered an extraordinary amount of media attention that very few companies, especially startups in the data and AI sector, seldom experience. This unexpected limelight has been both unusual and surreal for us, but I must admit, it’s made Astronomer a recognizable name across households.

Martin couldn’t even begin to try to fix what happened, but he’s had some fun with it since.

At the initial Coldplay concert since the recent controversy on July 19, the lead vocalist from England reminded the audience gathered at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, that a few spectators could potentially be seen on the large display screens.

“So please,” Martin said, “if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now.”
