Good news for Sonic the Hedgehog fans! SEGA has confirmed that at least two more Sonic movies are planned for release by 2028.
A new Sonic the Hedgehog movie, currently called Sonic the Hedgehog 4, has been confirmed. Details about the story are still scarce, but it’s scheduled to hit theaters in March 2027.
Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has announced another Sonic movie, currently planned for release in December 2028.
This project isn’t connected to Sonic 4, and because it’s described as a ‘Sonic universe’ film, it seems like a side story – possibly featuring a character other than Sonic himself.
I’m really hoping the main people behind the Sonic movies – like director Jeff Fowler and Ben Schwartz, who voices Sonic – will be back for the next ones! But honestly, we don’t know much about what’s planned beyond that right now. It’s all still pretty mysterious!
Last year’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was a major hit, earning close to $500 million in theaters.
The story focused on the debut of Shadow the Hedgehog, a strong new villain with Keanu Reeves providing the voice.
The movies have been very popular, so it’s no surprise that more are planned for the next few years.
