Currently, developer Mundfish is keeping many secrets about their forthcoming game, Atomic Heart 2. In a conversation with WCCFTech, Robert Bagratuni, founder and CEO of Mundfish, as well as the director of both Atomic Heart and its upcoming sequel, has shared some clues about the role-playing game mechanics that will be featured in Atomic Heart 2.
When inquired regarding the enhanced role-playing game (RPG) structure unveiled for Atomic Heart 2, Bagratuni discussed offering players a wider array of skill branches, enabling multiple advancement routes. He also highlighted the “dynamic world” within Atomic Heart 2, which will respond more actively to player actions.
Indeed, in Atomic Heart 2, we’re adding a broader role-playing game (RPG) element, but in true Mundfish fashion, it’ll be seamlessly integrated into the game, not just for the sake of complexity,” Bagratuni explained. “By ‘living world,’ we mean creating an environment that feels less like a static setting and more like a dynamic, interactive system. For now, though, we’re keeping most details under wraps until we’re ready to reveal them.
Regarding the role-playing game (RPG) aspects, our intention is to offer more intricate weapon customization options, advanced skill systems, and character development paths. These features will enable players to tailor their gaming style extensively compared to previous versions. When we mention “diverse activities,” we’re referring to tasks that encourage exploration: side quests or additional challenges. However, these elements will always complement the main gameplay experience – we don’t intend to transform it into a generic open-world game with checklist-style objectives. The game will still maintain its unique, dreamlike atmosphere that fans have come to appreciate.
As a gamer, I can’t wait to dive into Atomic Heart 2 where my choices truly matter. The creators hinted that we’ll have the power to shape events and missions as they unfold. But they’re keeping some secrets under wraps until the game launches, so there’ll be plenty of surprises along the way!
In simpler terms, Bagratuni hinted that in the upcoming game, Atomic Heart 2, players will have more control over their actions and decisions than they did previously. The choices you make can significantly impact the progression of events or missions. Regarding companions, he was careful not to reveal too much, but suggested that you won’t be playing entirely on your own.
Earlier this month, details about the sequel to “Atomic Heart” were revealed. Similar to its original version, the forthcoming game is expected to be a first-person shooter. As of now, no specific release date has been announced, but Mundfish has confirmed that “Atomic Heart 2” will be available on both PC and gaming consoles.
In the creation of its follow-up, the studio is employing Unreal Engine 5. Previously, they’ve referred to it as having a stronger connection to the spirit of “Atomic Heart.” The upcoming game will include Agent P-3, also known as Major Sergey Nechayev. At this point, the specific role he plays within the narrative has yet to be disclosed.
In addition to the anticipated release of Atomic Heart 2, Mundfish has revealed another game titled The Cube which is an MMO shooter set within the same universe. This upcoming title, first announced at Summer Games Fest 2025, centers around a mysterious floating structure known as “the cube.” Although specific details are still scarce, it’s expected that players will delve into unraveling the mysteries surrounding this colossal cube.
