Since its premiere in 2013, the anime Attack on Titan – based on Hajime Isayama’s popular manga – has become incredibly popular. Originally animated by WIT Studio, the show shifted to MAPPA for the final story arc due to a demanding schedule. While MAPPA’s animation was excellent, many fans still consider WIT Studio’s adaptation to be among the best in the anime world. WIT Studio handled the story from the beginning, while MAPPA animated the events that happened after the significant time jump. The story focuses mainly on Eren and the important relationships he has with his childhood friends, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert.
I’m still such a huge fan of Mikasa! She always went above and beyond for Eren, and even though it broke my heart, she did what she had to do during the Rumbling to save everyone. It’s amazing how much love there still is for Attack on Titan even after the series ended – we’re always getting little gifts! Just last month, they released a beautifully remastered version of Attack on Titan: The Final Chapter – The Last Attack in Dolby Cinema, which was incredible. And now, WIT Studio has dropped a gorgeous new visual of Mikasa to promote a pop-up shop! It’s so cool to see them continuing to celebrate the series and its characters.
Attack on Titan Director Reveals New Look At Mikasa Ackerman

I saw a beautiful new drawing of Mikasa from WIT Studio’s official X account. It was done by Ayumu Yamada, who was the Chief Animation Director for Attack on Titan. He’s a really talented animator – I’ve seen his work on other great shows like Mob Psycho 100, Banana Fish, and Kids on the Slope. It looks like the drawing is promoting a new Attack on Titan pop-up shop, and the post had all the details about it.
The pop-up shop is currently at the Tsutaya Bookstore in Noritake Shinmachi and will move to another Tsutaya location in March. This project will visit three stores over a period of time, with the first location finishing its run on January 15, 2026. It features merchandise and original artwork of the characters, designed to appeal to fans. All the artwork and character designs show them as they appeared before a significant story event, mirroring their look from the original manga.
I’m so excited about this new artwork of Mikasa they’re going to have on display at the bookstore throughout the event! It shows her with Eren’s scarf – you know, the one he gave her – and she’s drawing her sword, all ready for a fight. It’s such a powerful image because that scarf meant everything to her. She wore it constantly, even after Eren was gone and even after she married Jean. They even buried her with it! It really shows how much Eren impacted her life and how deeply she cherished their memories together.
