The animated film Hoppers has earned over $165 million worldwide, but it didn’t perform as well in Japan during its opening weekend. Doraemon: Nobita and The New Castle of The Undersea Devil is currently in its third week in Japanese theaters and topped the charts last weekend, beating Hoppers. The new prequel had the potential to be a major disappointment, or at best, not as good as the first two It movies. Luckily, It: Welcome to Derry exceeded expectations. With Bill Skarsgard returning as Pennywise and the show offering insightful social commentary, it proved to be a worthy continuation of the series. Many viewers actually found the ’60s-set horror show even more frightening and emotionally resonant than the original films, thanks to its extended length.
