According to ratings from Video Research, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End was the fifth most-watched anime in Japan for the week of January 12th to 18th. Nearly five percent of Japanese households tuned in – a significant number! While fifth place might not sound exceptional, the competition is tough. The anime ahead of Frieren – Sazae-san, Detective Conan, and Chibi Maruko-chan – are all long-running and incredibly popular shows in Japan. It’s hard to say how well Frieren performed in North America, but it has quickly gained a large and dedicated fanbase around the world.

As a huge Star Trek: Deep Space Nine fan, I’ve always been completely captivated by Elim Garak. He’s such a complex character – a tailor, a spy, someone who just survived everything. When the show ended, he went back to Cardassia to try and help rebuild after being in exile for so long, and honestly, we were all left wondering what happened to him next. Well, after 27 years, Star Trek has finally given us an answer, and it’s amazing!

Unlike American movie production, where one film’s success heavily impacts future projects, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is being created as a complete three-part series by Aniplex and Ufotable. Many details about how it’s made remain unknown to fans, including how much each film costs. When asked about the budget for the remaining films by The Hollywood Reporter, producer Hikaru Kondo couldn’t share specific numbers.

The series features performances by Mia McKenna-Bruce, Helena Bonham Carter, and Martin Freeman.

Okay, so “Planet X” is basically the second-to-last issue of Grant Morrison’s incredible run on New X-Men, and it’s a wild ride. It initially blew everyone away because it seemed like Magneto was secretly posing as Xorn and then just… went completely off the rails, taking over New York with plans that bordered on genocide. Now, it did get complicated later – turns out it was Xorn disguised as Magneto, which honestly felt like a messy fix. A lot of people struggled with the idea of Magneto committing something so horrific, and I get that. But honestly, I think those critics missed what Morrison was trying to say with the whole run. It wasn’t just about a villain going bad; it was about something much bigger.

I’m so excited! After Otr of the Flame finished up, Shueisha announced a new series by Kyo Tanimoto called Under Doctor would be taking its place. We haven’t had many details yet, but Viz Media just gave us our first peek at the main character! They’re showing it off ahead of the English release this weekend, and I can’t wait to see more – check out the preview below!
