Another Disney Live-Action Remake Revived With Scarlett Johansson Playing Her First Villain In 15 Years

With the highly anticipated live-action *Moana* set to release in summer 2026, Disney is also bringing back plans for a live-action *Tangled*. According to *Deadline*, the remake of the 2010 animated film – which starred Mandy Moore as Rapunzel and Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider – is moving forward after being put on hold earlier this year. While details are still limited, Scarlett Johansson is reportedly being considered to play Mother Gothel, the villain who kidnapped Rapunzel as a baby.
