As a big DC Comics fan, I was thrilled to see so many of my favorite series released on January 7th, 2026! Titles like Batman, Absolute Superman, and Adventures of Superman: The Book of El were packed with exciting moments and new developments. From the Justice League being completely taken by surprise to Absolute Superman’s dangerous encounter with his world’s Hawkman, there was a lot to enjoy. All three How to Train Your Dragon movies—How to Train Your Dragon, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World—became available on Peacock on January 1st. The critically acclaimed trilogy tells the story of Hiccup, a young Viking who becomes friends with a unique dragon named Toothless, and now the entire series is available on the NBCUniversal streaming service, including the upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon film set to release in 2025.

Okay, so the big question after Wakanda Forever is: who’s the new Black Panther? It really seemed like they were hinting it was M’Baku, Winston Duke’s character, who originally challenged T’Challa! Honestly, I’m so excited about that possibility. M’Baku is a fan favorite, and it would be awesome to see him take on a bigger role. Plus, he’d bring a totally different vibe – his way of thinking is so different from both T’Challa and Shuri, which would be really interesting to watch.

Nearly seven years after the movie Revenge of the Sith came out, Del Rey published Darth Plagueis, a novel by James Luceno, on January 10, 2012. The book tells the story of the powerful Sith Lord Darth Plagueis, focusing on his relationship with Palpatine. A key part of the plot is Palpatine’s betrayal of Plagueis, which adds depth and understanding to a famous scene from Revenge of the Sith.

If you enjoy scary movies, be sure to watch Abigail on Peacock before it’s gone. This 2024 reimagining of the classic Dracula’s Daughter, starring Melissa Barrera from the Scream movies, has been popular on the platform since September, but it’s leaving soon—likely by the end of the month. The story follows a group of criminals who kidnap the daughter of a dangerous crime boss, only to discover she’s a terrifying vampire who turns the tables on them.
