Smallville Favorite Star Confirms Comic Book Debut With Surprising New Series

Titan Comics will release a new gothic horror comic series called Black Star on July 29th. The five-issue series is created by Kreuk, actor Peter Mooney, and screenwriter Eric Putzer, with artwork by Joe Bocardo (known for Nightwalkers and The Hexiles). Described as a blend of The Revenant and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I, Black Star is set in the early 1800s during the fur trade era. It follows Dashiell Carlyle, who learns he possesses magical powers and isn’t the only one. He’s drawn into a secret society dedicated to using magic to build a better world, but soon realizes this dream may come at a terrible price.
