As a fan, I was devastated when Disney bought Lucasfilm and cancelled The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network. But I was thrilled to learn that they hadn’t just abandoned the work already in progress! They actually finished and released a whole sixth season – thirteen episodes – on Netflix in March 2014, calling it “The Lost Missions.” Of all those episodes, the final story arc really stuck with me. It was a four-part adventure focusing entirely on Yoda, voiced by Tom Kane, and it felt like the most important and impactful story they ever told about him in any Star Wars medium.
Before becoming famous as Colonel Chester Phillips in Captain America: The First Avenger and War Machine in Iron Man 2, Tommy Lee Jones and Don Cheadle starred in the 1997 disaster film Volcano. Now streaming for free on Tubi as of April 1st, the movie depicts a volcano erupting beneath Los Angeles’ La Brea Tar Pits after a major earthquake. It follows emergency workers and scientists as they desperately try to divert the lava flow and save the city. Volcano is a fun, over-the-top disaster movie that’s worth revisiting!
The third season, called Devil in Silver, promises to continue the show’s unsettling tone. This installment features Dan Stevens (known from The Guest and Legion) as Pepper, a man wrongly sent to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital. While there, he discovers disturbing secrets, battles other patients, and realizes a true horror hides within the hospital’s walls. The season is adapted from the novel by Victor LaValle, who also writes and executive produces, alongside Chris Cantwell (co-creator of AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire). The first scene introduces New Hyde and hints that things aren’t what they appear to be – you can watch it below.
