This tougher environment adds depth to the world design and makes me appreciate how each element interconnects. In fact, it’s possible that this game world is one of the best ever created, as it successfully breaks free from its side-scrolling constraints, making it feel like a genuine, thriving world.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake finally launches on Xbox Series X|S in January 2026 — and Square Enix confirms the whole trilogy is on the way
Not only is it confirmed that Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will be available on Xbox Series X|S and the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, but the entire remake trilogy will now be playable across multiple platforms. This suggests that players on Xbox and Nintendo can anticipate the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in 2024, along with the unnamed third installment.
This move marks a departure from the original console exclusivity of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 respectively, which were later made available on Windows PC.
Square Enix hasn’t announced a release date for the multiplatform versions of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth yet, but fans might be hoping for a Winter 2026 launch. Given that Square Enix may want to stagger these launches, this timeline could be possible.
Interestingly, Square Enix has also mentioned that the trilogy will be playable on Xbox and PC, among other platforms. This means Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the upcoming third game should both support Xbox Play Anywhere, similar to Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Hades 2 Exits Early Access on September 25th
