Although Halo originally appeared on home consoles, it’s expanded beyond them with the 2018 arcade game, Halo: Fireteam Raven. This large cabinet boasts dual 65-inch TVs combined to create a massive widescreen display. Four players can comfortably sit in padded seats, all within a vibrant enclosure featuring illuminated Halo rings. The game transforms the console first-person shooter into a light-gun experience, where each player controls a mounted turret during a 45-minute campaign set on the original ringworld from Halo: Combat Evolved. It’s an impressive, visually exciting, and enjoyable game. Now available in arcades both in the US and internationally, Halo: Fireteam Raven recently became available after its exclusive run with Dave & Buster’s ended.

I’ve been following this huge DC storyline, and it’s been amazing to see how they’ve expanded on it with different comics. We got a look at Batman’s intense trip to Apokolips in DC K.O.: Knightfight, and Justice League Unlimited showed what was left of the League trying to keep things together. Now, with everything coming to a head, DC just released DC K.O.: The Kids Are All Fight #1, which focuses on a bunch of younger heroes. It’s a really cool story about survival, and honestly, a familiar teen hero making a comeback is a fantastic surprise – longtime DC fans are going to be thrilled!

Mad Cave Studios and King Features revealed a new Flash Gordon comic book issue, #0, kicking off the next stage in the hero’s adventures. The issue is written by bestselling author Dan Abnett, known for his work on Superman and Judge Dredd, with art by Manuel Garcia (The Avengers, Star Wars), colors by Ceci de la Cruz, and lettering by Taylor Esposito. This special prelude issue establishes a fresh direction for the iconic character. The main cover art is by Joe Quinones (She Hulk), and a variant cover is by Miguel Mercado (X-Men).

HBO Max is adding a variety of shows and movies in February. New original programming includes the late-night series Neighbors and a fresh season of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. Plus, they’re adding both classic films like the 1932 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and newer movies such as Insidious: Chapter 3. It’s frustrating that new hero shooter games keep making the same error: amazing multiplayer, but almost no effort put into a compelling single-player story. These games often have rich worlds and interesting characters, but we rarely get a chance to truly experience them outside of combat. I enjoy hero shooters, but I can only play the multiplayer modes for so long. It’s hard to really connect with the heroes when all we do is fight as them, rather than with them, through a dedicated story campaign.

Bandai Namco is releasing a new movie called Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames, which retells a fan-favorite story from the Gintama anime series. The film, premiering in Japan on February 13th, focuses on Gintoki’s battle with the Night King Hosen – an arc originally aired as episodes 139-146 back in 2009. Bandai Namco describes the movie as an intense and visually stunning experience, highlighting a showdown between Kagura, Shinpachi, and their Vice Commander, Abuto. While there’s no confirmed release date for North America yet, fans can likely expect it to arrive later this year.

Kinetic Games CEO Daniel Knight announced that this year will be significant for Phasmophobia, with the 1.0 launch being a major milestone since the game’s initial release. The team is dedicated to creating a deeply immersive experience for players, and updates like Chronicle and the upcoming Player Character update are all part of achieving that goal. They hope the 1.0 launch will feel as innovative and thrilling as the original 2020 release.
