Strange New Worlds particularly draws heavily from this first pilot, titled “The Cage.” In fact, Star Trek might not have existed at all if the pilot hadn’t impressed studio executives enough to give Gene Roddenberry another opportunity with “Where No Man Has Gone Before.” Interestingly, a minor alteration nearly derailed the whole project.

CFO Gina Goetter acknowledged that selling eOne to Lionsgate in 2023 had shaped their current approach. Recently, Netflix chose Hasbro (along with competitor Mattel) as the official toy maker for KPop Demon Hunters, following the film’s huge popularity on streaming.
Zhang Yimou’s 2002 film, Hero, was a huge success both in China and internationally. It broke box office records in China upon its release and, after a two-year delay, became the first Chinese-language film to reach number one in the U.S. box office, where it stayed for two weeks. Hero earned over $53.7 million domestically and $177 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing non-English language films of all time. The film also received critical acclaim, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
