Despite their eagerness to be elsewhere, they offer a sneak peek about their organization. A key detail revealed is that the Justice Gang aims to minimize casualties, which might surprise viewers who remember them from “Superman”.
The anime skillfully blends contemporary happenings with remnants of yesteryears, resulting in a tale where two periods coexist simultaneously, which is what makes it so intriguing. Instead of following the story chronologically, we get glimpses of Frieren’s voyage with Himmel’s group that not only provide emotional depth but also influence her present choice to reconnect with Himmel’s spirit and delve deeper into him to alleviate her most profound regret. This narrative style enables viewers to experience the progression of time in a subtle yet poignant trip down memory lane, with Himmel serving as the focal point of these reminiscences. Upon rewatching the anime, these 10 flashbacks resonate much more deeply than on my initial viewing.

It also hinted at Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, but those were different days for DC Universe. Since then, Cavill’s Superman reappeared only to vanish again, while “The Flash” and “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” didn’t do well at the box office. Later, Gunn and Safran took control of DC, aiming to redefine its direction. Interestingly, this new vision no longer involves the Justice League. The DC Universe currently boasts a number of well-known antagonists across its expansive narrative, such as Lex Luthor and the Engineer (from Superman), along with several characters from Creature Commandos. However, there’s still a plethora of iconic DC villains eagerly awaiting their turn in the limelight, with Gunn having previously tapped one for Peacemaker Season 2.
