Permissioned blockchains
Banks favor these for their robust privacy, speed, and compliance. How very proper.
Atomic settlement and programmability
Unified ledgers and tokenization automate and accelerate processes. Quite the time-saver, indeed.
Security and audit benefits
Blockchains offer stronger privacy, auditability, and regulatory alignment. A boon for the rule-abiding.
Challenges persist
Scalability, regulation, and interoperability remain hurdles. Even the most elegant solutions have their quirks.

Spielberg initially planned to direct the film and had been involved for about a year. He spent considerable time at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, consulting with scientists and aerospace engineers. He even hired Jonathan Nolan, Chris Nolan’s brother, to write the first two drafts, but it didn’t quite work out. Jonah, a colleague, predicted that Chris would take on the project if Spielberg decided to move on, and he was right. As soon as Spielberg stepped away, Chris Nolan quickly signed on. Spielberg believes that ‘Interstellar’ ultimately became a better film under Chris Nolan’s direction than it would have been with him at the helm.

In a letter that screams “I told you so” before the ink even dries, Dimon warns shareholders that the U.S. government needs to get its act together before the debt problem turns into a full-blown crisis. Because, you know, nothing says “fiscal responsibility” like waiting until the last minute to panic.

Cameron Diaz is set to star in a sequel to the 1980s comedy Troop Beverly Hills, according to Deadline. The film is in development at TriStar Pictures and will be directed by Clea DuVall, who also wrote the script. DuVall previously directed the successful rom-com Happiest Season for the studio. Laurence Mark will produce alongside Diaz and her business partner, Katherine Power. While details about the plot are being kept secret, the film is a sequel, meaning Diaz won’t reprise her role as Phyllis Nefler. Instead, she’ll play a new character, likely connected to the original story and the Nefler family.

Extraction follows Tyler Rake, a fearless mercenary, as he undertakes a dangerous mission in India to rescue a young boy kidnapped because his father is a drug lord. The movie is a thrilling, fast-paced action experience, filmed to look like one continuous shot, and has already led to two sequels, with another one in the works. Now streaming on Netflix, it’s the perfect time to celebrate this surprisingly fantastic action film.

Bareilles described her time performing the show in London as a dream come true. Having written and starred in both the Broadway and West End productions, she shared that she lived in a small apartment in Covent Garden and loved working alongside her castmates and close friend. She felt as though she was living outside of herself, completely immersed in the experience.

Filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho is back with a new zombie movie called Colony, set in a high-rise building in Korea during an outbreak. Sang-ho is famous for directing the 2016 hit Train to Busan, which is now considered a modern classic in the zombie genre. He released two other films this year, Revelations and The Ugly, though they received somewhat mixed reactions. Colony will debut at the Cannes Film Festival, a fitting location since Train to Busan also premiered there a decade ago.
Bitcoin (BTC), that once-mighty king of crypto, has recently managed to crawl back from the depths of despair, aided by a brief ceasefire between the US and Iran. But don’t get too comfortable-some analysts still believe that the asset has yet to hit rock bottom. The best may be yet to come, and by “best,” I mean “worst.” Meanwhile, Ethereum (ETH) is floating along, teasing us with the possibility of a triple-digit price increase, but only if it can cling to its “line in the sand”-because, of course, nothing says confidence like sand.
