A major event in the first season of X-Men ’97 was the threat of an asteroid hitting Earth. The X-Men bravely went into space to try and stop it, but the asteroid exploded, and they appeared to be destroyed. However, the X-Men weren’t actually killed—they were instead flung throughout different time periods. Getting them all back to the 1990s will be a key focus of the show’s second season.

I was completely captivated by that 90s drama! It was all Jimmy McGovern’s doing – he created and wrote the whole thing. It followed a police team in Greater Manchester as they tackled tough cases, and Christopher Eccleston was brilliant as DCI David Bilborough. He really brought that character to life.
Billy tragically died in a January episode that crossed over between Corriedale and Emmerdale. He was driving a minibus home from Debbie Webster’s wedding when he was involved in a crash. After the crash, his abuser, Theo Silverton, intentionally prevented Billy from escaping and caused the vehicle to catch fire. Billy was the only person who knew about Theo’s abuse of Todd, and the situation has become even more complicated since then. Theo briefly felt remorse and even confessed his regrets at Billy’s funeral, unaware that Carl Webster was secretly listening nearby.
