As a gamer, I’d say some of the most heart-wrenching game endings I’ve ever encountered include Telltale Games: The Walking Dead Season One, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. While games like What Remains of Edith Finch, SOMA, Shadow of the Colossus, and Firewatch also tackle tough themes with striking visuals and writing, these three stood out for me because they left me in awe of their emotional depth rather than reducing me to tears by the end.

Yet, instead of being a drawback, this change could actually work well for the TV show, as it seems to fit the Dursley family quite appropriately.

In a nutshell, James Gunn clarified on the Peacemaker podcast that Matter-Eater Lad belongs to the Legion of Super-Heroes, implying he hails from the future. He’s not part of our current era.
