
In an interview with Collider, Wright voiced annoyance about some audience reactions towards his portrayal of Gordon. “The issue surrounding Gordon, it’s a complex topic,” he explained. “I can’t wait to work on it again, but I find it intriguing how there continues to be discussion, particularly now, regarding Black characters in these roles. It’s almost as if the comments are so racially insensitive and ignorant. It’s alarming that some people fail to understand that the growth of these movies mirrors the progression of society, and that it doesn’t demean this franchise to adapt it to contemporary cultural realities instead of keeping it rooted in 1939, when the comic books were initially published.
