Automation RPG Arknights: Endfield Could Be PS5’s Next Big Thing

Picture a role-playing game that combines the fast-paced character switching of Genshin Impact with the automated factory building of Satisfactory.

Arknights: Endfield is a game we got to try out at Gamescom earlier this year, and we were really impressed with it.

The game, currently scheduled for release on the PS5 in 2026, has undergone significant changes since its first tests. Developer Mountain Contour has been working on improvements, and a new beta version will be available later this month.

This initial test version will be available on PC and mobile devices. It includes a completely revised story with new scenes and animated conversations, where your decisions will actually change how the story unfolds. It seems the original story wasn’t quite hitting the mark with players.

A new update is coming on November 28th, featuring new playable characters and a brand new area to discover. You can sign up for updates here.

As a PS5 owner, I’m really excited about the news that there’s going to be a special stress test just for us! They haven’t said exactly when it’ll happen yet, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’s soon.

Here’s what the dev says about it:

This test is designed to be limited and will completely erase all data when it’s finished, also shutting down the servers. You won’t be able to make any purchases within the game during the test. We’ll announce the test dates soon. The game will be available in English, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and Russian. Please note that this PlayStation 5 Technical Test and the upcoming Beta Test II are different, and your progress won’t transfer between them.

As mentioned earlier, Arknights: Endfield appears to be a standard open-world gacha game at first glance, but its unique feature lies in the ability to create intricate automated systems for resource management.

It seems complex, but in a good way – something truly engaging. We’re excited to see how it feels when played with the DualSense controller. We originally tested it on a PC.
