Avatar: Fire and Ash Character’s Fate Confirmed in New Video Game DLC

A key character’s storyline from the movie Avatar: Fire and Ash has been expanded upon in new downloadable content for the Ubisoft video game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Despite discussions about the franchise’s cultural impact, Avatar remains incredibly popular and financially successful. The first two Avatar films earned over $5 billion, and Fire and Ash just added $345 million to that total in its opening weekend. If ticket sales stay strong, the new film is projected to earn at least another $1 billion, and possibly much more.

Disney has worked hard to connect its movies with other entertainment like video games and comics, including an Avatar-themed area at Disney World. One example is Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, a fantastic but often overlooked game that lets players explore the world of Pandora. It’s a visually stunning open-world experience that builds on the environmental themes of the films, putting players in the role of a protector of the planet. Ubisoft has continued to update the game since its 2023 release, recently adding a major story expansion set shortly after the events of Avatar: Fire and Ash.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora‘s New DLC Confirms Quaritch’s Fate

Wow, Avatar: Fire and Ash really felt like it could be the end of the story, if James Cameron or Disney decided it should be! It definitely wraps things up pretty well, but there are still a few questions left hanging. The final battle between Jake Sully and Quaritch was insane – they were fighting on these floating rocks surrounded by crazy magnetic energy! Jake actually saved Quaritch, which was a huge surprise, but then Quaritch jumped into the magnetic flux and just… disappeared. It felt pretty final, honestly.

Generally, if a character’s body isn’t shown, they might not be truly gone. The situation surrounding Quaritch was deliberately kept unclear – the scene was filmed in 2025, possibly to allow director James Cameron options for the future of the Avatar series. He could claim Quaritch died by suicide if Avatar 4 isn’t made, or leave the door open for the character’s return if it is. However, the new Avatar: From the Ashes downloadable content for Frontiers of Pandora now reveals what actually happened to Quaritch.

A post-credits audio clip reveals the character is giving orders to Tyler Bukowski, proving he survived his fall in Avatar: Fire and Ash. It’s possible this clip was added to the game before James Cameron filmed a new ending for Quaritch in August. However, as it stands, this suggests the Na’vi clone of Miles Quaritch is still alive.
