Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Sees Huge Resurgence Following Fire and Ash Release

The release of the new movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has brought a surge of players back to Ubisoft’s open-world game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. When the game first launched in 2023, it received mixed reviews, with many critics and players acknowledging its beautiful graphics and fun gameplay, but criticizing its story and repetitive quests. Despite these initial concerns, Frontiers of Pandora is now experiencing a significant boost in popularity, with many Avatar fans revisiting the game.

Recent data from SteamDB shows a significant increase in the number of players enjoying Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. The game just reached its highest-ever peak of concurrent players on Steam in the last 24 hours, with 12,496 people playing simultaneously. Although this number only represents PC players on Steam, it’s likely that PlayStation and Xbox have also seen a similar boost in player activity.

Ubisoft Capitalized on Fire and Ash in a Great Way

While the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash likely brought many players back to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Ubisoft also released a significant update for the game in early December called From the Ashes. This update introduced a third-person perspective and added new story content that mirrored elements from Fire and Ash. Although this content arrived two years after the initial game launch, releasing it around the time Fire and Ash came out in theaters proved to be a smart move for Ubisoft.

It’s unclear what Ubisoft plans to do with Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in the future. Although more people are playing the game now, a sequel doesn’t seem likely because the initial sales weren’t strong enough. Even if Ubisoft doesn’t make another Avatar game, Frontiers of Pandora has improved significantly and is definitely worth playing if you’re interested in exploring the world of Pandora.
