There’s been a fresh buzz about the forthcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, which appears to validate the presence of a character we’ve heard about before, along with two more unexpected superheroes joining the team.
What is the latest Avengers: Doomsday rumor?
On a recent social media update, curious followers put forth queries to industry expert Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, concerning the contrasting news articles about Ryan Reynolds’ potential role in the upcoming movie. While The Hollywood Reporter (THR) stated he would be part of the cast, Deadline gave an impression that was contrary to this.
When prompted, Perez confirmed THR’s statement by mentioning that Reynolds will appear in the film. He also hinted at the presence of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Dafne Keen’s X-23, casually stating “they’re part of it” and posting animated clips featuring all three characters.
For the year 2024, Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine. Several other actors who previously portrayed X-Men characters will also appear in Doomsday, suggesting a possible reunion of original X-Men cast members.
The star-studded cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film promises to be impressive, with a notable lineup of actors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe already confirmed. Among them are Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright as Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
In addition to the title of the upcoming movie, we also have several actors and their characters that will be featured. These include Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta portraying Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach taking on The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh playing Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston returning as Loki.
In the forthcoming film, we can expect several iconic characters from the X-Men series to make a return, featuring Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen portraying Magneto once more, Alan Cumming reprising his role as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn returning as Mystique, James Marsden resuming his character Cyclops, and Channing Tatum taking up the mantle of Gambit again.
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release in theaters on December 18, 2026.
